Starting in the forest, and throughout the entire value chain, we focus on environmental sustainability.

From the forest to the final product, Coastland is dedicated to environmental sustainability. Our commitment begins with the purchase of raw materials and extends throughout our entire supply chain. Our products are certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), affirming our sustainable management practices.

We take pride in our utilization practices and our ability to process a wide range of grades and sizes. We efficiently manufacture small logs and utilize materials that might be considered waste at other facilities.

At our facility, we maximize the use of every log. Bark is used to generate power for our conditioning process, replacing natural gas. Peeled veneer and cores are sold to customers, while trim ends and waste wood are chipped for pulp or energy production. Even the water used in the conditioning process is screened and reused. At Coastland, no fibre is spared.

Our veneer and cores showcase the natural beauty and strength of wood, free from chemicals. Our Environmental Management Plan ensures the responsible handling of potential hazards, such as fuel and oils.

We continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental footprint. Currently, we are partnering with BC Hydro on their PowerSmart program to reduce energy consumption and further minimize our impact on the environment.
