The Management, Staff and Employees of Coastland Wood Industries understand the importance of doing everything we can to “flatten the curve” of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past week, we have instituted new measures and protocols at all of our sites in order to keep our employees and their respective families safe. We have taken pride in our actions to date and feel that we have created an atmosphere that our employees should feel safe.
But, as we began to run into challenges within our facilities, many situations became difficult to overcome in regards to maintaining physical distancing. We have now made the difficult decision to shut down our operations at both our Nanaimo Veneer Mill and our Annacis Drying Facility until we can put into place further measures to ensure that can maintain the Social Distancing requirements that are required to stop the spread of this disease 100% of the time.
Our employees and their families are the most important asset at Coastland and we will not jeopardize their health and welfare. We believe in our Core Values, it is what drives us in every decision we make and the first Core Value in our Company is People – safety without compromise.
Our Manufacturing Operations will be re-evaluated on April 15th and a decision will be announced as to whether we will remain down or begin start up of our facilities. Please follow us on Twitter at @CoastlandWood for more information.
On behalf of the Coastland Family, we hope that everyone remains safe during this time and please do your part to help eliminate this pandemic!
