Coastland Celebrates with our Employees and their Families!

On Saturday, June 15th, Coastland celebrated a couple of milestones at our Veneer Mill in Nanaimo. This was the one year anniversary of the first log to be processed through our new Springer/Microtec log deck. Our employees have worked hard to get this installation up to the production numbers that we have targeted and continue to improve every week on! We couldn’t be more proud of this accomplishment by the employees and their flexibility and patience in getting to this point!

We also celebrated our continuing partnership with BC Hydro on the never ending quest of energy reduction and savings. All of our employees have contributed to this success and continue to give ideas and lead the charge on how we reduce our energy usage through out the Company. This partnership has been a huge success for Coastland and the incentives that are offered allow us to continue to upgrade our equipment and facilities!

Smoking Georges put together a fantastic barbeque lunch that everyone enjoyed before being able to walk through the mill, ask questions about the new log line and get to see it cut wood and process the blocks up to the veneer mill, it was a great way to show everyone what Mom or Dad does when they are at work! One of the highlights was the fact that we might have recruited a number of young equipment operators for the future as kids both young and old were able to sit in the drivers seat of some of our latest mobile equipment! All in all, a great day for everyone!
