Starting in the forest, and throughout the entire value chain, we focus on environmental sustainability.

Sustainable management begins when we purchase our raw material and continues throughout the entire supply chain to the end customer. Our products are certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) which validates our sustainable management practices.

Coastland takes great pride in our utilization practices and our ability to process a full spectrum of grades and sizes. We can efficiently manufacture small logs and are able to utilize material that may be considered waste at other manufacturing facilities.

Once at our facility, we get the most out of a log.  Bark is utilized to generate our own power, replacing natural gas, for the conditioning process.  Peeled veneer and cores are sold to the end customer while trim ends and waste wood are chipped and sold for pulp or energy production. Even the water used in the conditioning process is screened and re-used.  No fibre is spared at Coastland!

Our veneer and cores are products with the natural beauty and strength of wood without any chemicals. Our Environmental Management Plan ensures we responsibly manage any potential hazards associated with handling fuel and oils.

We are always finding new ways to reduce our footprint and are now working with BC Hydro on their PowerSmart program to help reduce energy consumption to further reduce our impact on the environment.
